ROBERT WILLIAMS is Professor of the History of Art at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of Art, Theory, and Culture in Sixteenth-Century Italy (Cambridge 1997) as well as of Art Theory: An Historical Introduction (Wiley- Blackwell, 2008). In the summer of 2012 he curated the exhibition The Zodiac of Wit: Peter Meller and the Graphic Imagination at the Art, Design and Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara.
