Péter Grosschmid

PÉTER P. GROSSCHMID (b. 1950) graduated from the University of Budapest as MSc. Chem. He worked at various organisations as editor of textbooks. Later he became the director of communication of the government agency responsible for technological development. Most recently he served as the Science Counsellor of the Hungarian Embassy in Helsinki. He wrote several articles for S&T press and the monthly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is member of the Club of Hungarian Science Journalists.

JÁNOS SZENTÁGOTHAI: AN INSPIRING AND IMAGINATIVE SCIENTIST

UNESCO and the world of science are celebrating the Centenary of János Szentágothai (d. 1994), the imaginative Hungarian neuro-anatomist, who developed a new, three- dimensional model for the functioning of brain from the 1960s. Szentágothai tutored generations of young brain researchers at Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest, who have
