Miklós Király

MIKLÓS KIRÁLY (Veszprém, Hungary, 1960). Dean of the Faculty of Law, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. Professor of European Law and International Economic Relations. Author of several books and articles on EU law and Private International Law. Main field of research: The Cultural Effects of the Law of the European Union. He was senior counsel at the Prime Minister’s Office (1990–92), member of the board of State Property Agency (1992–1994) and adviser of the President of the Republic of Hungary (2002–2005). He is a member of the European Expert Group on contract law.

CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNANCE AND THE COMMON GOOD

As a specialist in civil and commerical law, I am glad to have the opportunity to contribute to the restoration to political thinking in Hungary, after several years of conspicuous absence, of the notion of service of the common good as a legitimate aim and obligation of the state. It
