Dávid Bán

DÁVID BÁN (Budapest, 1975) is a culturalanthropologist,urbanresearcher and journalist. He graduated from the University of Miskolc (Hungary) as a cultural anthropologist, museologist and teacher. He obtained his PhD in history and urban studies at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris in 2010. He had been working in different media organisations (Duna Television, Hungarian News Agency) for several years and is writes as a freelance journalist for various printed and online publications. In 2002, he co-founded Anthropolis Association, an NGO dealing with educational and awareness-raising projects. He is currently working for Anthropolis as a trainer and project coordinator.

UNCOMMON TRAVELLERS – GRANDEUR AND CEREMONY AT THE RAILWAY STATION

The railway station, a modern public space, urban edifice and transport junction in the heart of a city, was borne out of the industrial revolution. For the public, they primarily represented technical objects of necessity, but their design and construction also subtly resonated and still resonates to social phenomena and
